The Otsutsuki
The Otsutsuki are alien beings who traverse universes searching for planets that have what they covet the most – chakra. The Otsutsuki goals are to consume the natural energy of planets and in turn plant a god tree that will bear the chakra fruit. This requires two Otsutsuki members because one needs to be sacrificed to the god tree once it matures while the other consumes the chakra fruit. Kaguya and Isshiki Otsutsuki were sent to earth and made use of their resources.
Kaguya and Isshiki
Kaguya had a change of heart and wanted to rule the earth after consuming the chakra fruit. She was supposed to be the sacrificial Otsutsuki but then decided to eat the chakra fruit for herself since she grew attached to the planet. This was unbeknownst to the rest of the Otsutsuki and Kaguya had already made plans to build her own army in the event that her kin would find out what she had done and decide to go after her.

Hagoromo Otsutsuki was the founder of ninshu, also known as the Sage of Six Paths.
